Hi!! I am Jun Hao a second-year Chemical Engineering student at SP. The purpose of this blog is to document my journey learning things like Arduino coding and laser cutting in my course Chemical Product Design & Development, also known as CPDD.
One of the personal goals that I wish to achieve during CPDD is to improve my design skills on Fusion360. For the CAPSTONE project that I will undertake in my next academic year, Fusion360 will definitely be my primary tool in designing my device. My current skills in Fusion360 are still not up to the standard that I think it needs to be at to be able to design the parts that need to be 3d-printed or laser cut. A few good ways to improve on this skill are to continuously practice in my free time and ask people I know who are more knowledgeable in this field than I am. I would know that I have achieved my goal when I can completely design my CPDD final project on Fusion360 on my own.
Another personal goal of mine to achieve in CPDD is to learn how to use laser-cutting programs such as Corel Draw and the Universal Control Panel. These programs are used to control the laser cutter and being able to use these programs competently will allow me to use the laser cutter quickly and efficiently as well. Achieving this will also require constant practice and learning from the staff at the various FabLabs. I would know when I had achieved my goal when I am able to consecutively laser cut pieces of material using only a maximum of 5-10 minutes to prepare per use.
